Trends

Let’s have a discussion on trends. What are your thoughts on trends? Do you like to follow them? Do you like to do your own thing? Or do you just not care? Personally, I have a lot of thoughts on trends. I feel like there is a lot of pressure to always follow the latest trend or keep up with what’s new, and honestly it can get really exhausting (physically and financially). There is nothing wrong with following trends as long as you are doing it for you, but I think most of us can fall guilty of wanting to get in on a trend just because everyone else is doing it. But what is considered “trendy?" Who gets to decide what is trendy and what is not? Who gets to be the judge of what’s in and what’s out?

I think we should be the ones in charge of what we wear, and you should wear what you feel like expresses yourself. It is so boring whenever everyone looks the same. Create your own trend of what represents you. I think following trends are great if it is something you truly like. For reference, I’m obsessed with the the baggy dad jean going on right now and I feel confident In my Levi's.

Trends also come and go which is the hard and exhausting part. It is easy to get wrapped up in if people are still wearing what you just bought, and it eventually just gets draining. I also find it hard for me to commit to a trend I like because you never know how long it will last (which honestly who cares if it goes out fast, again it only matters if you like it). Example Y2K, this has made a come back from the early 2000s time period, it is going to have its time, fade away for a little bit and then come back around again in 10 or 15 years like it is doing now (at least that is my prediction). The worst thing is when you buy something that you only got because it was trendy and the next day it is "out,” so now now you feel like you can’t wear it anymore. Me personally, my style as evolved a great amount over the past years (Thank God). I've done a lot of searching on what I feel the most confident in and as a result of that is I've stopped impulsively buying things just because they were trendy. So my advice to you would be to figure out your own personal style, think before you hop on the latest trend and make sure you love it.

Fashion should make you feel comfortable in your own skin. Wear what makes you feel confident. If you do like a trend, go for it, but only if YOU like it. Who cares if it was only popular two years ago?

But since we are on the subject what are some of your favorite trends?
