Guys!

it’s been so long. Hi, how are we doing? After getting back from Europe life got crazy and I kinda forgot about writing. Butttt what better way to get back into it than writing about the biggest fashion event in America.

As we know this years Met Gala theme was a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld who is most well known for being the creative director at Chanel from 1983 up to his death in 2019. He had created some of the most iconic and beautiful looks to this day. My expectations for this years Met was high, I was expecting to see a lot of his vintages Chanel pieces and also other designers take on Chanel and Karl in their own eyes. So after watching and seeing, I decided to break down some looks from the night. This is my Super Bowl, let's get into it.

Emma Chamberlain in MiuMiu & Cartier

styled by Jared Ellner

This is Emma's 3rd Met Gala and every time she does not disappoint. Every year she has been spot on when it comes to the theme but in her own unique way. I love how she went with the classic Chanel suit but made it her own version by adding sparkles and making it cropped. My favorite part about this look is the head band, some might say it is too casual for the Met but I think it's perfect.

Kate Moss in Fendi

Scrolling on Instagram the night of I was getting a little defensive over her, all of the comments saying "she looks like she was going from her bed to the Met Gala." But honestly this was one of my favorite looks of the night. Yes it wasn't this extravagant gown but I thought her look was a perfect representation of Chanel and very on theme. And also just so elegant and classy. I want it in my closet!

Dua Lipa in 1992 Chanel

Now this is exactly what I wanted to see, a '92 Chanel wedding gown. 10/10 all around, enough said. well, one thing, I do wish she would have worn her hair up but that's my only critic. love love love this.

Michelle Yeoh in Karl Lagerfeld Couture

Michelle's look was a simple but chic tribute to Karl. Karl was known for wearing black and white suits so she decided to turn that into a dress.

Kendall Jenner in Marc Jacobs

At first, I did not like this but after giving it a few days I think I do like it. My only thing is I wish it was a dress, I think it would have been so pretty as a long fitted gown, but I am no designer so who am I to say. Kinda hate the shoes though.

Manu Rios in Karl Lagerfeld Couture

For this years mens looks I was honestly pretty underwhelmed but there were a few I really liked. Even though it is a little boring and all black I thought it was a classic. I thought the structure of the suit was well done and it has an interesting shape.

Doja Cat in Oscar De la Renta

I mean, you either love it or you hate and I absolutely love it. I think it is fabulous and yes even though she has on cat makeup I still don't think it looks costume-y. Besides the cat features, just looking at the dress alone, it is beautiful and Karl loved his cat so how much more of a tribute could it get.

A$AP Rocky in Gucci & Rihanna (& baby) in Valentino

Something about A$AP Rockys outfit is it was a tribute to an outfit that Karl once wore. A$AP did his own spin with the jeans under and the Gucci belts, I really enjoyed this mens look. I thought Rihannas look was really pretty after the flower jacket was taken off. I did love the lash sunglasses though. But I mean its Rihanna she can wear whatever she wants and still look bomb.

Ann Hathaway in Versace

I LOVED this look. It is so Chanel with the tweed fabric but also so Versace at the same time with the gold pins. Ann Hathaway also just looked so gorgeous with her hair and makeup. 10/10 job.

Yara Shahidi in Jean Paul Gaultier

Pearls, pearls, pearls. The giant pearls on this dress are beautiful and the silhouette of the dress is giving me Chanel mermaid vibes.

Margot Robbie in Chanel

Margot Robbie's dress is a remade 1993 Chanel dress. I love how airy and flowy this dress is but also sexy with the corset, but I do wish the corset was not that plastic material. I don't love the shiny reflection when the flash hits it. Can't want for the Barbie movie though.

Shai Gilgeous- Alexander in Thom Browne

This was by far one of my favorite mens looks of the night. I love the layers and also the classic tuxedo underneath, but also the gold chains that really give it that Chanel feel.

What is your opinion of this years Met Gala?
